| On Living with Coba: The thing about living with Coba is that he's always one or two steps ahead of you, just to make life interesting. Coba spends much of his day with me, at home and at work. Once, some years back while delivering plants in Phoenix at Christmas, I received a gift of lemon bars from a customer. I left Coba in the cab of the delivery truck, along with the keys and the lemon bars on the dashboard. In his excitement to see where I was going, he jumped to the driver's window, locking the door to the truck in the process. Luckily my customer had a coat hanger, so I proceeded to try to unlock the door through the inch of open window. Coba thought this was a great game and kept playing with the hanger, frustrating my efforts. Finally I purchased a bag of M&M's and distracted Coba by pitching them into the truck away from the door lock which I eventually opened. In the process I was also successfully able to distract him from the lemon bars! |
